About Elizabeth
Twenty-five years of tutoring experience, with confidence at the centre
Elizabeth combines long experience with an individual approach, helping children make progress without losing sight of how learning feels.
My story
Hi, I’m Elizabeth
I am the owner and Head Tutor of Elizabeth’s Tuition Centre. I began tutoring while studying at Leicester University in 2001 and was promoted to Head Tutor within three months. I continued in that role until moving to live and work in France in 2003.
Several years later I started my own tuition centre in Birmingham, which I ran successfully for many years. I later moved to West Yorkshire, and Elizabeth’s Tuition Centre has operated in Bingley since 2020.
The centre has grown from one student to more than eighty regular students and has welcomed over a hundred families. Many of those relationships continue for years.
I am also a mum of five and have a dog called Stan. I understand that family life, school pressures and confidence all shape what a child needs from tuition.
Experience in practice
Progress looks different for every child
Elizabeth has supported children working towards entrance tests, GCSEs and Functional Skills, as well as children who need to rebuild confidence or find a different way into a subject.
Exams and entrance preparation
Support for grammar-school and independent-school entrance tests, GCSEs and Functional Skills.
Different ways of learning
Experience supporting children with neurodivergence, dyslexia and additional needs.
Confidence that carries into school
A focus on helping students understand what they can achieve and approach their work more positively.
Teaching philosophy
Not simply catching up—helping children flourish
My goal is to help each child make academic progress and increase their self-confidence. Lessons are adapted to the student’s starting point, interests and pace, so that the work remains purposeful and achievable.
The best result is a child who can take that growing confidence back into school and exceed their own expectations.
